P Square and May D Part Ways

What started like a good partnership between Square Records (home of the multi-award winning duo, P Square) and their first ever signing, May D is suddenly no more, and this is official.

Below is the press statement released few minutes ago by square records boss, Jude Okoye.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

I, JUDE ‘ENGEES’ OKOYE of Square Records Limited and Northside Entertainment Limited hereby announces to the general public that Mr. Akinmayokun Awodumila, otherwise known as MAY D is no longer an artiste under the aforementioned outfits due to irreconcilable differences.
We at Northside and Square records wish him all the best in his career and life.

The partnership between them had boosted May D’s career a lot, which had saw him released hit singles, shot videos, and worked with international artiste, Akon.

Words on the street is that the break could be attributed to May D making ‘irrelevant’ requests from Square Records so as to live large like top artistes; another word on the street is that he’s set to join Davido’s HNK gang. We’ve tried to get across to the artiste whose latest video ‘Ile Ijo’ is enjoying lots of airtime play but hasn’t been successful.

May D was initially affiliated to rapper Alaye, but had to move on when his career wasn’t picking up, thereby joining Square Records in 2011.
