Can you remember Nnena, yes the same Nnena Omali that featured on rapper Modenine award winning song ‘Cry’ years ago? The sultry Afro fusion songstress and guitarist that had her ‘Oluchi’ video nominated for the Sound City Music Awards in 2007 is back with a new single – Palava which she emotively describes as the product of a past experience tells a tale on its own. Unlike ‘Oluchi’ which had touched on the touchy subject of abuse and battery, exposing its ills with heartfelt imagery and lyrics; ‘Palava’ is yet another expose on the issue of poverty and how it has often led to societal misdemeanours or used as an excuse for illegality. However, she adds a didactic twist to the expression.
