What's his name? After Snoop Dogg's dubstep career didn't
take off in the way that he probably would have liked, the
rapper-actor-marijuana spokesman has decided to embrace a new genre and a new
alias.
Snoop -- using the moniker Snoop Lion -- will release a new
reggae album later this year called Reincarnated. In preparation, he's dropped
a single, "La La La,". Snoop and his band -- ominously named
"the Jungle" -- will perform for the first time on Aug. 3 at
Toronto's Caribana festival.
"La La La" sounds like a typical reggae track,
with laid-back guitar riffs and a dreamy vocal track from Snoop himself,
affecting a Bob Marley-like accent.
Reincarnated was executive produced by Diplo of Major Lazer.
"What we’re doing is a reggae record. It’s like Snoop
Dogg and Major Lazer together," Diplo said to MTV. "It’s all reggae
and he’s singing and he’s doing a f--king awesome job and I never knew it, but
he had his heart in every song. We’re going to get back into the production of
it next month, and I’m really proud of that record. It’s the first record I’ve
ever executive produced and his crew is amazing.”

from her self-titled album Cole Phoenix, which also hits stores

Singer, songwriter and actress, Cole Phoenix, serves up her second single
as an appetizer for her album, and also to spread a positive message, as is
often the norm with her music and lyrics. "Cougar" boasts a
feel good message set to rocking electric guitars and pounding bass, and

"I wrote 'Cougar' to pump up female confidence and break demeaning

negativity surrounding aging and mature women, who are often marginalized in
the media - or made to feel less sexy, less confident - when really it should

"'Cougar' is to encourage all women to put on their heels and hit it -
that sexy is not an age, it's an attitude. Also, the song subverts the idea
that a woman with a younger man is a predatory thing; it's no different to a

There will be another version of "Cougar" coming shortly for
fans, featuring New York-based Jamaican born rap artist, Trev EyeZ. As
soon as he heard "Cougar," he was inspired to collaborate.

lyrics and melody by Phoenix herself. "Cougar" offers a
perfect taste of Phoenix's eclectic debut album, which boasts a dynamic range,
from jazz numbers to pop rock tracks, and is testimony to the unbridled talents
